ONE FINE DAY 2017 RECAP
To think this time last week we were bumping in for One Fine Day, full of nervous excitement and completely unaware of what the weekend would hold for us, is crazy. After such a huge build up, it came and went in a total blur, but we had so much fun that I was actually sad to see it come to an end. And, I am still on such a high! I've had nothing but a huge smile on my face this week as we've recovered, reflected, debriefed and sifted through the many emails in our inbox.
I'm not going to lie, it was a huge deal for Love Carli to be accepted into One Fine Day. I had been aching to be a part of this amazing event since before Love Carli was even realised but, it wasn't until this year that the business was at a place where I felt confident enough to put it out there at such a high level. I was so thrilled for the opportunity to take my business to the next level, but I knew it would be a huge challenge for me. I knew there would be bigger businesses, with bigger teams and bigger budgets and I put a huge amount of pressure on myself to be good enough. Putting everything together was HARD work, it took its toll mentally and financially. I did little else for 2 months and it took more problem solving, logistics and creativity than my brain could handle at times.
But, as everyone kept telling me, it was all worth it, because we not only pulled it off, we smashed it!!! I was so overwhelmed with how well Love Carli was received by everyone. My heart was beaming with pride the whole weekend and every time someone said how much they loved my display or my stationery I wanted to cry, hug them and tell them just how much it meant to me.
I wanted to take the opportunity to shout out a huge thank you to my small, but dedicated army of friends and family who helped me achieve this goal.
To my superstar husband who's love for me, patience and generosity found him completely dedicated to a cause that is not his. He painted backdrops, stained wood, couriered printing from the city and packaged up giveaway packs until the late PM and never once did I hear him complain. He also kept me calm when I was freaking out and fed when I was time poor (I don't think I have cooked a meal in months!). Thank you so much Mark George, I could not have done it without you, nor would I have wanted to!
To my too-clever-for-his-own-good Dad, who built my backdrop and pedestal in record time and saved me $$$ and stress by doing so, thank you for always doing whatever you can to help.
To my good friend Leah and sister Tania for being the best assistants/moral support a girl could ask for. Thank you for devouring my pages of notes, standing by my side and helping me chat to as many people as possible. You did so well!
To Ange who made the amazing naked cake I used to display our cake toppers and took such good care of our fur baby for the weekend, thanks for all the pep talks to remind me I was awesome and I could do this.
To Lauren and the girls at Poppy Culture who created the amazing florals for my display on top of putting together their own amazing stand.
To all my friends, family and industry pals who knew how much this meant to me and how hard I worked, your timely messages of luck, support and advice in the lead up were much appreciated!
And last, but certainly not least. Thank you to all the brides, grooms, mothers, mothers-in-law, sisters, bridal parties, girlfriends, etc that came by our stand and allowed me to share my little business with you. I loved chatting with all of you, there were some really positive, happy vibes and I look forward to meeting some of you again on your wedding planning journey!
