5 THINGS EVERY SAVE THE DATE SHOULD INCLUDE

5 Things Every Save The Date Should Include.jpg

Save the dates are are becoming increasingly popular, but sending them out is still a relatively new practice, thus the guidelines around them can be a little unfamiliar. Generally sent 6-12 months before your wedding, save the dates let your guests know the date and location your event well in advance so they can mark it on their calendars, arrange time off and get a head start on booking flights and accommodation.

At this point, you will be in the very early stages of your wedding planning and may not have figured out all the details of your big day. This is completely fine, as long as you know the following 5 pieces of information you have everything you need.

01. THE DATE
The most obvious detail, the month, day and year of your wedding! It can be written in whatever format you wish, but it is always a good idea to also specify the day your wedding will fall on as well, especially if it will be on a weekday.

02. YOUR NAMES
The stars of the show, you and your fiancé! If you want to keep things traditional and formal, then use your full names. If you're planning a casual wedding, it's perfectly fine to use just your first names.

03. THE LOCATION
Include the city and state of where your wedding will be held. If you have booked it, you can also include the name of your venue if you like, but save the exact address for the invitation.

04. FORMAL INVITATION TO FOLLOW
You’d be surprised how many guests will mistake a save the date for the actual invitation, so make it clear that it is just that, a save the date, by adding an extra line that notes a formal invitation is on its way.

05. WEDDING WEBSITE
If you're having one, it is also appropriate to note the URL for your wedding website at the bottom of your save the date. That way, if guests want more information, there is a convenient place for them to find it.
